Working with our excellent team of strategy professionals, you’ll diagnose key business growth drivers, set strategic direction for the future, prioritize our growth initiatives, and partner with our business teams to implement our growth plans.

Position Purpose Statement 

This role forms the backbone of the Demand Spaces COE function - providing actionable insights, answering critical business questions and unearthing new growth opportunities through the use of advanced statistical and predictive modeling techniques. This creative, statistically astute individual combines cutting edge approaches in statistical modelling, data mining and data visualization with compelling storytelling and influential executive presence to advance our growth ambitions within snacking, while driving adoption of Demand Spaces as the primary lens for opportunity identification.

Primary Accountabilities / Responsibilities 
The Sr. Data Scientist, Demand Spaces COE extracts the optimal commercial value from the data, responsible for: 
  • Working closely with business teams to understand the most critical business questions to be answered in the data, then utilizes multiple data sources (retail, consumer, market, demographic, etc.) to provide powerfully visual, action-oriented recommendations that drive commercial growth.
  • The stewardship, governance and continued growth of the Demand Spaces ‘big data’ foundation
  • In partn
  • ership with the Associate, Global Strategic CI, democratizes the data to broader MDLZ business teams through the creation, deployment and maintenance of intuitive, engaging dashboards (Excel, Tableau or other)
  • The growth and advancement of their direct report, the Analyst, Strategic CI, particularly around data manipulation, visualization and storytelling.
  • Through compelling presence and communication, Influences the growth agenda on multiple levels, from team workshops to c-suite reviews.
  • Further afield, the data scientist will contribute to the overall enhancement of the SIA communities’ data capabilities, through educational sessions and ongoing consultancy. 
Direct Reports

Analyst, Strategic Consumer Insights 
  • Administration of the Product Quality Benchmark program (~50% of time)
  • Development of insightful dashboards, with guidance from the Data Scientist
  • Stewardship and transformation of existing frameworks (Global Snacking Framework, Orion) towards Demand Spaces
  • Support on Demand Space market rollout, particularly in field sample set up, and deep diving on key business questions as they arise

Knowledge: including education, qualifications and training (required)

  • Strong academic background in marketing, analytics, economics, statistics or business management (Postgrad highly advantageous), holding over 5 years of business experience to illustrate capabilities in data integration and usage with the business.
  • Highly proficient in base business tools (Excel/PowerPoint), with leading expertise in data modelling, computer science and/or data transformation. Programming skills (e.g. Hadoop, Java, machine learning algorithms, predictive analytics, other) is a must, and powerful knowledge of data visualization tools (Tableau, Qlik, Spotfire, etc) is critical.

Experience (required)

Research, marketing, economics, consulting or business analytics/insights background (5+ years), international/regional scope is a plus


English is a must, other languages spoken is preferred
